During his ministry, Alan has worked in a variety of parishes from rural (6 parishes, 7 churches, 1,100 people) to suburban (14,000 people), with others in between! He has also had the privilege of working in Methodist, United Reformed, Baptist and Roman Catholic Churches since his ordination. For the last five years, he has been the parish priest of West Byfleet, where he now works half time since taking up the role of Bishop's Adviser for Spirituality.
Alan's main focus is to assist parishes and clergy in developing lives focused on Christ, through prayer and worship, offering support, encouragement and assistance in various areas, some of which are outlined below:
Available to parishes and other groups for the following through MEPD:
- Prayer workshops - connecting prayer with the reality of all aspects of life
- An intercessions workshop - to assist all who lead intercessions
- A Lent Course - exploring Scripture and prayer for growth through Lent
- Parish Quiet Days - the details of which can be tailored to specific needs
- A weekend parish retreat
- A quiet morning - for clergy/leaders team building
- A week of guided prayer - for one or more parishes and ecumenical partners
- A workshop on contemporary spirituality
- A workshop on enlivening liturgy - to enrich the content and delivery of Common Worship
- Closer to God - a self-directed programme exploring prayer
- Essence - an interactive programme to stimulate deeper spiritual life
- Prayer in the Power of the Spirit - a four session course
There are many ways in which, together, we can open up people to the activity of God in their lives.
